Matthew McKenzie Business Development Director, The Export Group
Matthew McKenzie is one of the founding members of The Export Group, which offers on the ground support and experience to assist Australian and International FMCG brands develop and execute on their Greater China business plans and strategies.
Prior to establishing his own business, Matthew spent fifteen years working in various international and export roles at the Dairy Farmers Group (now part of Lion), Campbell Arnott’s and Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing. He was responsible for selling the first pack of Weet-Bix to China 8 years ago and has personally overseen and navigated the Weet-Bix brand in China from humble beginnings to now being one of the hottest Australian FMCG brands in the market. In 2015, under Matthew’s guidance, Sanitarium established a local office in China and due to the business growth under his leadership, this office is now staffed fully by Sanitarium employees.
Matthew is a member of the Austcham Shanghai Food & Beverage Committee and has a strong passion for the long term opportunities that are available for Australian Food and Beverage brands in China. He is based in Shanghai where he has lived for the past two years. He holds a BCom and MCom from UNSW, spent a year studying Korean Studies at Korea University in Seoul and also spent a year studying at Keio Gijuku in Tokyo.
